SYSBS Wins Bid to Host 2018 ApacCHRIE Conference

The Asia Pacific Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ApacCHRIE) awarded the 16th ApacCHRIE Conference in 2018 to Sun Yat-sen Business School (SYSBS) in a ballot held in Bangkok, Tailand on May 11.


SYSBS Associate Dean Jingyan Liu, ApacCHRIE Board Member and Country representative of China, presided over the bidding process. A number of SYSBS professors and administrative staff had been working hard on the bidding preparation, which was also highly supported by Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) and the Guangzhou Hotels Association.

The 5th ApacCHRIE Conference in 2007 was held at Beijing for the first time. SYSU is the second university in China to win the right to host the ApacCHRIE Conference after 11 years. The year 2018 also marks the 30th anniversary of the Department of Hospitality & Service Management of SYSBS, which is of great significance for the development of the Department and the international academic influence of the School.


ApacCHRIE is a Federation of the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE). It serves to  to promote academic and research exchanges among hospitality, foodservice and tourism educators and industry practitioners in Asia Pacific.
