The First SYSBS Symposium: Frontier Issues in Entrepreneurship, Strategy and International Business Successfully Held

The first SYSBS Symposium - Frontier Issues in Entrepreneurship, Strategy and International Business - was successfully held at Sun Yat-sen Business School from Dec. 17th to Dec. 18th, 2011. It was organized and hosted by SYSBS, which is an international academic event of great significance and high standard. Many overseas and domestic scholars took part in it, including famous scholars from China mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Germany, France, Singapore and the United States, and also SYSU teachers and students.

 

Four top scholars in the field of entrepreneurship, strategy and international business were invited to the symposium, namely Dr. Garry Bruton, Professor of Texas Christian University, Dr. Marjorie Lyles, Professor of Indiana University, Dr. Luo Yadong, Dean of SYSBS and Tenured Professor of University of Miami and Dr. David Ahlstrom, Professor of Chinese University of Hong Kong. They delivered keynote lectures respectively, with topics of frontier academic issues on entrepreneurship, organizational learning, strategic entrepreneurship and international entrepreneurship.

The panel discussion on Dec. 18th selected ten academic papers from home and abroad scholars, mainly doctoral students, including two topics: Entrepreneurship and Family Business in China, and Entrepreneurial Teams, Product Characteristics, and Firms’ Location Choices. In the plenary sessions, scholars presented their papers or projects, inviting comments and suggestions from the renowned top scholars.
