Alumni Joins the 2010 Commemorative Alumni Reunion
On November 13, over 800 alumni of 80 and 90 Class returned and gathered at the Swasey Hall of Sun Yat-sen University to celebrate the 86th anniversary of SYSU as well as the third “Alumni Reunion Day”. Old photos, videos of campus memories and lyrical and humorous speeches brought them back to the wonderful time of the Hong Lok Yuen two or three decades ago.
On behalf of Sun Yat-sen University, deputy secretary of SYSU party committee Li Ping made a speech, presenting a warm welcome to the return of the alumni on the occasion of the 86th anniversary of SYSU. Meanwhile, she shared the good news that, on the latest rankings of world universities issued by Times Higher Education Supplement, Sun Yat-sen University ranked the 171st, becoming one of the six universities in China mainland which entered the top 200 rankings. All the alumni were elated and inspired by the good news.
To beautiful songs, the previous flag-bearers marched into the arena formally. SYSU alumni Liu Yong and Yang Quan, representing the Auditing class of grade 90 and Business Management class of grade 90 respectively, also mounted to the rostrum, holding the class flags. Under the guidance of SYSU school flag and the Asian Games mascot – five rams, flag-bearers of each class guided the alumni to cruise the campus along the central lawn. Everyone was filled with all sorts of feelings at the sigh of their ever-familiar scenes – green trees, grass, red buildings.
Deputy Secretary of School of Business Dai Honghui and Mr. Zeng Tao from the Alumni Office also joined the activity. Soon afterwards, alumni Liu Yong and Yang Quan went back to School of Business with excitement, talking about their insights on life gained during the 20 years after graduation with the teachers from the Alumni Office and expressing their nostalgia for the alma mater and the old classmates. All the alumni wished that the school would make further progress in the future.
Grade 86 class of Business Management and class of Auditing have successfully held the reunion parties in memory of the 20th anniversary for graduation on July 24 and August 13 respectively.
