SYSBS MBA Team Won the First Prize of the Finals of the 10th CESIM “Rush Hour” National Business Simulation Competition
On March 23—25, the finals of 10th “Rush Hour” National Business Simulation Competition sponsored by “Rush Hour” China Region Organizing Committee and organized by Zhejiang Gongshang University was held in beautiful Hangzhou. The Alibaba team composed of the 2016 MBA students Zhai Dong, Wei Xintong, Li Chan and Liang Qianwen from SYSBS scored the first prize of the finals after three days and two nights of hard work and presented a gift for the 20th anniversary of our MBA program.
CESIM “Rush Hour” Competition originates from PEAKTIME, a world-famous business simulation competition. Since introduced to China in 2008, it has been successfully held for nine times so far. The champion of the undergraduate teams of the national finals selected by the competition would go to Finland to participate in the global finals. The competition simulated modern enterprise decision-making and combined various modules such as enterprise production, operations, sales, research and development, finance, and strategy to seek out a good business performance for enterprises. In this competition, after a series of preliminary contest and playoff that began in October 2017, 23 undergraduate teams and 18 MBA/postgraduate teams from domestic famous universities including Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Nankai University, Sun Yat-sen University, Xiamen University, and Central University of Finance and Economics met in the finals in Hangzhou.
The two-day competition continued the tradition and was divided into three parts: online business simulation, case presentation, and English presentation. It was worth mentioning that, in order to meet the demands of the development of the commercial era and more realistically simulate business alliances and mutual benefit and win-win results in real business, every two teams were grouped by drawing lots during online simulation part. The simulation results were calculated as the average of the cumulative results for each round of the two teams. This required all teams to pay attention to both of its own scores and the cooperation with the other team.
The release of new rules was like a spring thunder on the flat ground, making the participating teams surprised. Everyone looked for their teammates, exchanged experiences, discussed strategies, and formulated countermeasures. As a result, the Alibaba team from Guangzhou Sun Yat-sen University and the Xuyang team from Wuxi Jiangnan University began their story in Hangzhou.
After three intense rounds of competition, the Alibaba team finally won the first prize of the finals of 10th CESIM “Rush Hour” National Business Simulation Competition; the teacher Chi Jiayu from SYSBS won the title of “Outstanding Instructor”.
