Accounting Department Holds "2011 National Excellent Undergraduates Accounting Summer Camp"

August witnesses a hot summer, however, it is still cool in the campus sheltered by trees. The big banyan trees on both sides of Yet-sun road constitutes a paradise for the birds. The whole campus shone with vitality. Excellent undergraduates from all over China got together in Accounting Department of SYSBS and took part in "National Excellent Undergraduates Accounting Summer Camp" with excitement and expectations.

Having succeeded in organizing first "National Excellent Undergraduates Accounting Summer Camp" last year, graduate school got sponsored again this year to organize the second "National Excellent Undergraduates Accounting Summer Camp". 105 undergraduates from 45 key universities applied for this camp. Compared with last year, the number increased by 23.8%. 52 of them were chosen finally.

On Aug. 3 , the summer camp which would last for three days officially started at 8am. Deputy Secretary of Accounting Department of SYSBS, Cai Xiang presided over the ceremony. Head of Training Office of Graduate School, Gao Jiuqun delivered the opening speech. He first extended warm welcome to the campers, then introduced with emphasis on the reform in SYSU graduate enrollment and training system. The big reform triggered the campers' interest in pursuing further study in SYSU. Later, Associate Dean of SYSBS, Professor Fu Zhengping talked about the faculty situation, development plan and academic resource of SYSBS. Associate Dean of SYSBS, Lan Yu presented a flag to the leader of the summer camp. Finally, Head of Accounting Department, Professor Lin Bin introduced the situation of Accounting Department, answered students' various questions in details and expressed his expectation for the campers—"Take advantage of the platform provided by SYSU to fully show yourself","Increase your understanding about Accounting Department of SYSBS, increase your understanding about the prestigious SYSU, increase your understanding about the ancient Guangzhou." 

Wander in the campus, walk closer to SYSU. 
After the opening ceremony, under the guidance of campus tour guide, the campers paid a visit to the Pearl River outside SYSU north gate, the statue of Sun Yat-sen，Martin Hall, Huaishi Hall, Mansion of Chen Yinke and some other ancient buildings full of Lingnan cultural features and historic meanings. While walking on the Yat-sen road under the shelter of old banyan trees, the campers took pictures of the most beautiful SYSU in their heart and the young faces. "Erudite and cautious, the spirit of SYSU survived hundreds of years". After appreciating the historic flavor of SYSU and the beautiful sceneries in campus, they are more eager to become a member of SYSU.

Campers benefited a lot from the fantastic lectures.
In the morning of Aug.3 and in the afternoon of Aug.4, Professor Liu Feng of SYSBS, Head of CNAO‘s Guangzhou Resident Office, Zeng Jun, and Doctor Lin Jingrong made three excellent lectures, "Accounting Research and Accounting Imperialism", "All about Audit" and "Accounting Information Disclosure and Earnings Management". The experts made lectures from different perspectives and covered the issue of accounting research, accounting practice, accounting theory, which were abundant in content and attractive. Simple but profound illustrations offered the campers a colorful picture of accounting, enabled them to jump out of class and pay more attention to social reality."The flower is so beautiful that the visitors forget to pick them up, the forest is so fantastic that the birds forget to sing." The campers benefited a lot from the lectures and felt hard to say good-bye.

At 3pm of Aug. 4, the campers visited the museum of Zhujiang Brewery Group Co.ltd under the guidance of teachers. They were introduced to traditional production technology , interesting experiencing facilities and modern manufacturing process. After talking face to face with the deputy manager Lin Yuancun for 40 minutes, they had a general idea about their green management concept, earnings and cost management. At last, teachers tasted the beer with the campers beside the counter and exchanged experience and gains with them at the same time. "If you drink with a bosom friend, a thousand cups are not enough." "Sometimes, teachers can also be friends." 

Learn from each other through research design.
Research design was a feature part in this summer camp. Campers were asked to accomplish a research design on their own according to the instructions and presented them to the organizer of summer camp on the day of arrival. The accounting department would choose the most excellent 6 designs, invited the designers to make presentations and introduce the research background, research problem and research technique route. Then the teachers would make comments in brief and select the winners by secret ballot 

During the excellent research design presentation part in the morning of Aug. 5, the designers were confident and calm. They were brave to design and carefully verify the design with unique and innovative methods. The comments of teachers were also pertinent and enlightening. "The old trees embrace the spring and the flowers blossom together." In SYSBS, innovative clashed with cautious, idea was put into practice. These young people equipped with scientific research quality were full of passion and vitality. They gave new strength to SYSBS and composed the tunes of their life simultaneously.
