2016 Workshop of "Financial Innovation" Special Issue Was Successfully Held at Our School.

??On September 2nd, 2016, co-sponsored by Sun Yat-sen Advanced Financial Studies School, Sun Yat-sen Business School, and the Editorial Department of "Financial Innovation" which is affiliated with Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, the “Financial Innovation Special Issue” workshop was successfully held at our school. Nearly 30 Chinese and foreign scholars from colleges and universities in the United States, Hong Kong, Switzerland and mainland China attended this meeting as special guests, and they also delivered wonderful academic reports and speeches.??
??????Prof. Wang Fan, Dean of our school and Advanced Financial Studies School made a welcome address and pointed out that the future development trend of the financial industry is to be combined with information technology; along with the continuous innovation and application of information technology in the financial field, as well as with the development of science and technology, such as big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence, the information technology will remould the financial industry deeply. Prof. Kou Gang, Executive Dean of the School of Business Administration at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, pointed out in his speech that it is necessary to set up a special issue of "Financial Innovation" so as to conform to the progression of the times, promote China's financial innovation and integrate with the experience in international development. He also said that the main published articles in this special issue should be on the hot issues such as financial innovation. ????

??One Session of the Video Conference ??
??Afterwards, the workshop was divided into two parts, namely the remote video conference and the on-spot meeting, which were hosted by Prof. Ma Yue, Chair Professor and Head of the Economics and Finance Department at City University of Hong Kong, and Prof. Zhao Jianliang, Chair Professor of City University of Hong Kong and Director of International Internet Financial Center. The overseas guests who were not on site and the on-site guests focused on the recent development in financial innovation, as well as some other hot issues, such as block chain, crowd funding and financial technology, and they also discussed the development prospects and models of financial innovation, and the publication of “Financial Innovation” special issue. The experts’ and scholars’ wonderful reports and animated discussions won bursts of applause from time to time. And the meeting place was full of rich academic atmosphere. ??

??Prof. Chen Yunxian(former vice governor of Guangdong Province), acting as a Honorary Dean of Sun Yat-sen Advanced Financial Studies School, has especially called in Prof. RoniMichaely, a top financial scholar of Cornell University in the United States, and many other distinguished professors. His aim is to build up financial disciplines, especially the national high-end think-tank in the field of financial technology and the international leading academic research position, to establish integration with financial academic circles, government circles and industries, and to become highly influential relying on Sun Yat-sen University’s integrated advantages, and Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Hong Kong's geographical advantages. ??
