The First Meeting of the Second Standing Council of Alumni Association Sun Yat-Sen Business School (SYSBS) and the Second Meeting of the First Alumni Fund Council Are Successfully Held
On the morning of May 6, the first meeting of the second Standing Council of Alumni Association SYSBS and the second meeting of the first Alumni Fund Council SYSBS were successfully held in M202 of the MBA Building. Over 50 people attended the meetings including Kong Xiaohui, Deputy Director of the Career Development and Alumni Office, SYSBS and Deputy Secretary General of Alumni Association, Professor Wang Fan, dean of SYSBS, Qi Xiaoping, Secretary of the Party Committee of SYSBS, Yu Liren, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of SYSBS, Professor Li Xuerou, Professor Mao Yunshi, Yu Hua, former Secretary and directors of different regional alumni associations. The meetings were hosted by Qi Xiaoping, Secretary of the Party Committee of SYSBS.

??Firstly, Secretary Qi Xiaoping expressed her gratitude to all the attending guests and alumni from different regions and introduced major guests present. ????
??After that, Deputy Secretary General Kong Xiaohui delivered a welcoming speech and expressed her gratitude to alumni for their contribution to the development of the University and SYSBS. She pointed out that currently the number of connected alumni of Sun Yat-Sen University is near to over 300,000 and the number of different alumni organizations across the world including regional and industrial organizations and associations reaches 189. By mentioning “Alumni and Alma Mater are living together in a community not based on interests” said by Secretary Chen Chunsheng, she stated that the relationship between alumni and the university or college is very close. She also looked forward to promoting the alumni work of Sun Yat-Sen University to a higher level through the interaction with Alumni Association SYSBS and different alumni.??
??At the meeting, Dean Wang Fan made a report entitled Development of SYSBS, outlining the development of SYSBS in recent years in terms of the history, strategic positioning and tactical measures. Dean Wang Fan pointed out that in recent years, SYSBS has made remarkable achievement whether in subjects, talent cultivation or scientific research. He reaffirmed the vision and mission of SYSBS, that is, the “Huangpu Military Academy in the business circle”. SYSBS consistently embraces practice, combines Western with Eastern style, integrates different fields and makes continuous innovation in mechanism and system in order to influence the society. Dean Wang Fan pointed out that the strategic positioning of SYSBS is to innovate, which conforms to the vital instructions of “four sticks, three supports and two in the front” proposed by General Secretary Xi to Guangdong. In many ways, SYSBS embraces management practice and makes innovation in terms of content, research and internal mechanism and system by relying on China’s national circumstance in order to make itself into the “innovative international high-quality business school”. Dean Wang Fan demonstrated that in the future, SYSBS will aspire to create the “three large platforms”, specifically, the innovative platform of training high-level business administration (BA) talents, scientific research and think-tank platform integrating BA new theory, new ways and new practice under the China’s national circumstance and the innovative platform of higher education system in China. Centering on the strategic positioning, SYSBS emphasizes values and social responsibility education in training talents, optimizes subjects and aspires to cultivate business elites of “combining the West with the East, making innovation, starting up business, leading the business circle and shouldering social responsibility”. As for scientific research, SYSBS will continue to give play to advantages in enterprise internationalization innovation, small and medium-sized enterprise innovation, accounting management innovation, financial innovation and operational innovation in order to lead the industry. Meanwhile, Dean Wang Fan has made a systematic analysis of the challenges faced by SYSBS in two aspects, namely, the external environment and the internal organization. He also was indebted to alumni for their support and care for SYSBS in many years! ??
??After that, Ke Jianjie, Deputy Director of Party and Government Affairs Office, made a report entitled Alumni Work in SYSBS from 2015 to 2016, reviewing and summarizing the alumni and fund work of SYSBS in the past two years and envisioning the work in 2017. Different alumni representatives also have reported the recent work of regional alumni organizations. In the recent two years, Alumni Association SYSBS and different alumni organizations have strengthened the interconnection among alumni, promoted their communication and made contribution to the alumni work of SYSBS through a wide variety of events.??
??At the meeting, all the directors present had a heated discussion of relevant documents. Finally, the meeting has examined and approved relevant documents including the additional list of members of Alumni Council, Charter of Alumni Association SYSBS, Regulations on Performance Rating of Alumni Work SYSBS and Administrative Regulations of Subordinate Organizations of Alumni Association SYSBS and directors present have reached a consensus of the alumni and fund work at the next stage. Alumni and fund work of SYSBS aim to promote the alumni communication, unite each alumnus and make contribution to the further innovation and the common development of SYSBS and alumni.??
??It is reported that SYSBS will hold the first training of Huangpu alumni elites this year. Beginning with the development of alumni enterprises and focusing on the trend of social cutting-edge industries, the training consists of regular activities. It aims to create an alumni cooperative ecological circle with knowledge as the bond, alumni networks as the reliance and SYSBS platform as the cornerstone, supporting the consistent development of alumni enterprises, enhancing the social power of Alumni Association SYSBS and cultivating Huangpu business elites.
