2011 Academy of Entrepreneurship Strategy Seminar held
On November 2nd, 2011, the 2011 Strategy Seminar at Academy of Entrepreneurship was held in Peihua meeting room at SYSBS. The Seminar was chaired by LI Zhongfei, Dean of Academy of Entrepreneurship. ZHU Kongjun, SYSU Deputy CCP Secretary, and CHEN Chunsheng, SYSU Vice President, attended the seminar and gave speeches.
Also present at the seminars were leaders from relative departments, including LI Mingzhang, Director of Career Center, HUANG Shan, SYSU Communist Youth League Secretary, and LIU Zeyang, Deputy Secretary, together with TAN Jinsong, SYSBS CCP Secretary, FUZhengping, Associate Dean of Academy of Entrepreneurship, and faculty representatives and career mentor representative HUANG Lian.
SYSU Deputy CCP Secretary ZHU addressed the audience at the seminar. He proposed the following points of view during his speech: first, the development of entrepreneurial education needs support and coordination in many respects. Second, as an incubator on campus, the integration of the science and technology zone should be enhanced. Third, establishment of the Academy should be implemented so as to enhance its overall stability. Fourth, the Academy should cooperate with student societies for the benefit of comprehensive planning for entrepreneurship matches. Last but not least, the Academy should appeal for more opportunities in order to obtain the “985 projects” so that it can obtain further policies and fund supports.
Vice president CHEN summed up the seminar. In the first place he gave recognition to the Academy’s achievements during the last two years. Then he offered his ideas on the future development of the Academy: First, the long-term development of the Academy requires an ongoing planning as soon as possible. The implements should be in line with the national trend of developing entrepreneurship education and should make good use of the given opportunity of being a pilot Academy. Second, in developing entrepreneurial general education, more venture courses should be offered to deepen students’ understanding of entrepreneurship. Third, our university encourages the Academy to make joint efforts in developing entrepreneurial education of SYSU by intensifying the exploitation of resources and striving for more support from the university, alumni, and community.
Founded in 2009, Academy of Entrepreneurship has so far set up three “Whampoa Entrepreneur Class”, which has yield fruitful results, including: 32 reports on the result of innovative carve-out completed by teachers, 43 national awards won by student winners in team contests, and 11 student-run projects which have entered the operational phase of enterprising. Currently, the Academy has achieved the goals of the first incubative stage and has now entered a brand new period of opportunity for strategic development. In the growing stage, the Academy will devote itself to expand its reputation by integrating internal and external resources, enlarging its platform for practice, intensifying the integration of production and education and widely recruiting excellent students on and off campus.
