SYSBS Students Won the Runner-up in the Deloitte Tax Championship Finals (Greater China)
On October the 15th, 2011, The 8th Deloitte Tax Championship Finals, a pivotal academic event in Greater China, was successfully held in Shenzhen. SYSBS team won the runner-up position with an excellent performance. The number of registered teams for the Championship has set a new record this year, with participants from 62 universities in Greater China.
Sponsored by the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, The Deloitte Tax Championship is a key project of the Deloitte Tax Research Institute. The project intends to promote the development of tax courses, train up tax professionals, as well as enhancing students’ interesting of learning tax. Among the twelve teams qualified for the national finals, eight are from Mainland China, including Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Sun Yat-sen University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Southwest University of Finance and Economics, South China University of Technology, Wuhan University, Nankai University and Harbin Institute of Technology. The other four universities that qualified were: Chinese University of Hong Kong, Macau University of Science and Technology, National Taiwan University, and National Chengchi University.
SYSBS started practicing for this Championship in June, with Mr. Song Xiaoning from the Department of Accounting as both their leader and coach. All four members of the team were dual degree students from Department of Accounting. The participants were Huo Erzhu, Cai Yingshen, Li Xiaomeng, nd Lv Xiaoxiao. During the nearly five-month training process, Mr. Song made a great contribution and the Department of Accounting gave a tremendous deal of support and encouragement. Armed with sound professional knowledge, the four diligent team players managed to overcome difficulties and enhance their understanding of Chinese tax by carefully studying tax laws, regulations, and typical cases. Eventually, their outstanding performance won unanimous approval by the judges in the national finals and they received second place.
