SYSBS 2011 Opening Ceremony, MBA Orientation Session and Award Ceremony of “MBA Rookie & SINOSURE Excellent MBA” Held

On the morning of Sep 10th, all the freshmen of SYSBS joyfully gathered in Liang Qiuju Hall and attended SYSBS opening ceremony for academic year 2011-2012. The campus with its unique beauty welcomed the new cohort of students.

After the opening ceremony the MBA freshmen of Grade 2011 went to Shansi International Conference Hall, which was graced by a bamboo thicket and lotus pond. It was in Shansi Hall that the 2011 Fall MBA Orientation Session and Award Ceremony for “MBA Rookie & SINOSURE Excellent MBA” were held.
Prof. Wang Fan, Vice Dean of SYSBS, in his opening remarks, extended his warm welcome to all the MBA new students. He hoped that students would rationally and practically plan for their study and career, and also objectively evaluate the benefit of MBA course. Besides, looking back upon the fruitful achievements obtained by Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) and SYSBS in the last two years, Prof. Wang urged students to make full use of MBA life and make a difference. After the talk, Prof. Wang awarded certificates of honor to “2011 MBA Rookie” winners.

Following Prof. Wang’s talk, Wang Yuanhuai, Director of MBA Education Center, described programs, mission and management of SYSBS. He said that students were expected to strictly stick to school rules, respect teachers, balance their study and life, and finally successfully finish their MBA studies. In the end he introduced the whole faculty members of MBA Education Center to MBA students.

In the afternoon, the 25th lecture of Shansi Management Forum was held .At the invitation of MBA Education Center, Mr. Jin Haiteng, Deputy President of China Guangfa Bank (CGB), delivered a lecture titled Enterprise Competitiveness—A Case Study of CGB (Hangzhou Branch) to MBA/MPM/MPAcc students. Mr. Jin talked about his experience as Deputy President of CGB (Hangzhou Branch) in seeking new model of enterprise management and concluded several essential keys to strengthening enterprise competitiveness. He won thunderous applause from students for his wisdom, creativity, respectful attitude towards employees and personal charisma.

MBA Educational Center also invited a professional trainer, who instructed freshmen in playing ERP Simulation Game. In this mimic business warfare students experienced the cruelty of business competition. As was expected, with the help of simulation of real-world enterprise operation, students got familiar with various steps in enterprise management. Besides the game let students be aware of their shortness so that they knew where to put efforts and could make wiser study plan.

The SYSBS 2011 MBA orientation activities came to an end at six o’clock in the afternoon. For all the MBA freshmen it was a joyful day of sharing and learning.
