The 1st SYSBS International Week Successfully Held
The 1st SYSBS International Week was successfully held on both East and South campuses, during Dec. 17-23, 2011. The activities included the Opening Ceremony & Face-to-Face with Management Gurus, Promotion for 2012 SYSBS Study Abroad Programs, English Debating Competition, Study Abroad Photo Exhibition, Company Visit, and Farewell & Christmas Party, with the topic of “discussing business in the domain of business, integrating Chinese and Western management wisdom and developing future business leaders”.
On Dec. 18th, Prof. Yadong LUO, International Dean of SYSBS, declared the commencement of the International Week and gave an opening speech. Dr. Garry Bruton, Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University where he holds Fehmi Zeko Faculty Fellowship, Dr. Marjorie A. Lyles, Professor of International Strategic Management at Indiana University Kelley School of Business and the Kimball Faculty Fellow, together with Prof. Yadong LUO, communicated with students in conversation, conveying a passionate exchange of ideas on Management, Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and career development as well.
On Dec. 19th, Promotion for 2012 SYSBS Study Abroad Programs was held at the East campus. Office of International Office introduced all the outgoing programs and the application procedures, also gave answers to some problems that might occurred when involved in the exchange program. A free communication between international students and local students was well organized to provide more specific information for the SYSBS programs.
During Dec. 17-23, Study Abroad Photo Exhibition was displayed within the whole “International Week” on both East and South campuses. Photos taken by local students who had overseas exchange experiences were pasted up with the theme of “A Taste of Study Abroad” to celebrate the sights, smells and tastes of the world. International students captured some of the most memorable faces, places and the diversity of tradition that they have experienced in China with the theme of “China through My Eyes”. The variety of locations represented is testament to the wealth of international experience that SYSBS students possess.
On Dec. 21, the 1st SYSBS English Debating Competition was taken place on east campus. Each team included 4 or 5 members, among who there was one international student. Focusing on entrepreneurship, each team actively prepared for the Competition with serious, diligent attitude and restless efforts.
In the morning of December 22nd, SYSBS students visited Guangzhou Swire Coca Cola Co. Ltd. Mr. Luo from the Office of Public Affairs and Communication kindly received the group and vividly introduced history and culture of Coca Cola. Later, the students visited the production line, which made students perceive the fresh power of Coca Cola.
In the evening of December 23rd, a Farewell and Christmas Party was held, inviting both SYSBS international students and students from other schools. The party was well prepared, where students enjoyed themselves, tasting delicious cakes and watching or participating in games. The party was pushed into its climax by group dancing and wonderful performance by special guests. Although in the foreign place, at Christmas Eve, international students just felt at home at SYSBS.
The first SYSBS “International Week” ended with students’ cheers and laughters. Through conversation with Gurus face to face, we absorbed brilliant thinking and wisdom, and a bright vision of life; through participation in a series of activities, both international and local students communicate and cooperate, enhancing their friendship. “International Week”, which has shown the favorable academic and extracurricular life at international SYSBS, was highly supported and praised by teachers and students, who expressed great expectation of a second “International Week”.
