The First SYSBS “International Week” Opening Ceremony and Face to Face with Management Gurus (3rd Conversation)

In the evening of December 18th, the first SYSBS “International Week” opening ceremony and “Face to Face with International Management Gurus” (the 3rd conversation) was held on East Campus.

Dr. Garry Bruton, Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University where he holds Fehmi Zeko Faculty Fellowship, Dr. Marjorie A. Lyles, Professor of International Strategic Management at Indiana University Kelley School of Business and the Kimball Faculty Fellow, together with Dr. Yadong LUO, International Dean of SYSBS and Distinguished Professor of Management at Miami University were invited to communicate with students in terms of management, strategy, entrepreneurship, and career planning.

In the beginning address, Dean LUO declared the commencement of the International Week and gave an opening speech. He first reviewed efforts, progress and achievements made in 2011 by SYSBS in international exchanges and cooperation, elaborated the ultimate goal of international affairs to offer students opportunities and channels to broaden their horizon, as well as expressed ardent expectations of SYSBS into an international business school.

Next in the “Face to Face with Management Gurus”, Gurus conducted multi-dimension and multilevel analysis and discussions with students in terms of global environment, social development, public welfare, enterprises development, and even personal development. They also shared their perspectives in talent selection and management, factors of successful enterprises, challenges and opportunities in global economy and NGOs. Meanwhile, Gurus also gave their answers to questions from students in aspects of professional knowledge and skills enhancement, balance between academic research and work and personal career planning as well as put forward some specific advices.

In the end, in order to extend great thanks to the three Gurus for sharing academic knowledge and life experiences, students presents them with three calligraphy works “桃李馥郁”, “春风化雨” and “德溥春风”. The whole activity ended with a group photo to mark the occasion.
