Our Candidates Win The Championship And Third Place of The 4th CMCC (South China)
On July 9, the 4th China Management Case Competition (CMCC) (South China) is held in No.1 Lecture Hall of Technology Building, Shenzhen University. The event is hosted by Chinese National MBA Education Supervisory Committee and other units and organized by Shenzhen University. 11 teams from six universities in South China join the competition, which is themed on “HISENSE taking over SHARP’s business in America: gain or loss?” Under the leadership of Mr. Tang Guanghua and Mr. Liang Jianping, director and deputy director of Case Development and Study Center respectively, two teams from Sun Yet-Sen Business School (SYSBS), “Triumph in the Skies” and “SYSU United”, win the championship and third place of the 4th CMCC (South Region). The team from South China Normal University (SCNU) won the second place. On the morning of the day, the team “Triumph in the Skies” carries on case study with the topic “Analysis Report on HISENSE’s Internationalization Strategies from the Perspective of America – coordinating with its global layout dynamically through strategies of ‘creation’ and ‘borrowing’”. Based on the challenges Hisense faced in the American market, they make deep analysis of the macro-level market, the industry and the consumers. At the same time, by conducting strategic analysis according to Hisense’s strategic layout and goals and based on Grant resources and competence model, they put forward the three-phase development program in the future and conclude the brand development strategies of “creation” and “borrowing” in business. The team’s analysis is well-grounded and action plans are offered. When answering the questions of the defense, judges and audience members, the team members are quick-witted, giving strong and creative answers. Owing to their good teamwork, they win the championship in South China with the high scores of 91.2. Prof. Liu Jun, dean of Business School of Shenzhen University, awards the medal to the winning team. In the afternoon of the day, the team “SYSU United” sets forth their viewpoints with the topic “Competition-Cooperation and Synergies in Chinese Enterprises’ Overseas Development – interpretation of and outlook on HISENSE taking over SHARP’s business in North America”. From the perspectives of the necessity for the enterprises to develop overseas, promotion of brand, synergies of global value chains, etc., the team puts forward that the case is not an either-or situation and can be treated as a whole. Based on that, they construct the development plan of competition-cooperation and synergies between Hisense and Sharp. Owing to the exquisite design of materials, their creative viewpoints and good manners on the stage, the team members win the recognition of the judges, audience and their opponents. Some of them even come to them for further exchange after the competition. “SYSY United” wins the third place with the scores of 88.83. Prof. Liu Xiangyang, a judge of the competition, awards the medal to the bronze medalist. Candidates of SYSBS are well-received by the judges and the audience because of their professional qualities and skills in the competition. Mr. Tang Guanghua is awarded the Best Advisor in South China. Ms. Wang Shujuan, director of the CMCC Organizing Committee issues the certificate to Mr. Tang Guanghua. Advisors and candidates take a group photo. The CMCC finals will be held during the last ten-day period of September at Sun Yat-Sen University.
