2013 EMBA Program Inauguration and the 1st SYSU Whampoa Forum
On August 31, the 35th EMBA Whampoa Program was inaugurated at the International Conference Hall at SYSBS.
The Whampoa Forum is a newly developed series of academic activities featuring experts and scholars from various social sectors. The events have been established as a high-end platform for cross-cultural management communication for students and alumni at SYSU.
In his introductory remarks, Mr. Xiangpeng Jin, Director of the EMBA Education Center, noted that the 35th EMBA Whampoa Program has 58 pre-enrollment students 13 female candidates (22%), and 45 male candidates (78%), with an average age of forty years. Students come to the program from private enterprises (51%), governmental departments and state-owned enterprises (40%), and foreign-funded corporations (9%).
It has been 10 years since the enrollment of the 2nd EMBA Program. Mr. Lie Lu, student representative of the 2nd EMBA Program, took this opportunity to recall for the newly-recruited students his own experience of learning in the program ten years ago: “Although students were of different ages, and from different regions and different professions, the SYSBS EMBA Program has bonded the students together,” Mr. Lu shared.

After the inauguration ceremony and amid thunderous applause, the 1st SYSU Whampoa Forum was held with the presence of the highlighted speaker, Mr. Dingsheng Ma, renowned military-affairs commentator tracted an audience of more than 400 guests to hear. Mr. Ma’s remarks on the topic of Strategy of China’s Peaceful Development, which were both insightful and critical on the topic of China’s armed forces and status-quo.
