SYSBS Accounting Authenticated by HKICP
On November 26, 2012, Sun Yat-sen University and Hong Kong Institute of CPAs (HKICPA) hosted the authentication certificate award ceremony for Sun Yat-sen Business School's MPAcc and Accounting programs. SYSU Vice President Minghai Wei, SYSBS CPC Secretary Jinsong Tan, and HKICPA President Keith Pogson attended the ceremony.

According to the agreement between SYSU and HKICPA, SYSU graduates who have passed the relevant courses authenticated by HKICPA, would be allowed to register for the Qualification Programme (QP). Those graduates who have completed the QP, passed the examinations, and met the experience requirements, are eligible to apply for the position of Hong Kong CPA. With Hong Kong CPA designation, graduates would be certified as accountants in nine major economic countries or regions, including Australia, Canada, England and Wales, Scotland, Ireland, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and USA.
“HKICPA QP provides comprehensive courses, where students can broaden the global vision and improve the competiveness through international accounting principles and accounting practice norms. With one-year-and-a-half QP courses at the soonest and abundant working experience, students can acquire and become one of the Hong Kong CPAs,” commented President Pogson.
HKICPA membership is recognized by a number of prominent global accounting organizations, which brings members added advantages for multinational employment. In addition, members who have completed the QP also benefit from the Mutual Examination Paper Exemptions Agreement (MEPE) for Mainland and Hong Kong accountants. Under this agreement, four disciplines -- accounting, auditing, financial cost management, company strategy, and risk management -- could be exempted in the PRC CPA Uniform Examination.
Furthermore, to encourage increased application for the QP, HKICPA will provide scholarships for SYSBS students in the MPAcc and Accounting programs.
