On October 12, Sun Yat-sen Business School held the workshop for the world’s lead management journal - Academy of Management Journal (AMJ) Special Research Forum (SRF) on “West Meets East: New Concepts and Theories”, which brought together all guest editors and contributing authors whose papers had been invited to revise and resubmit (R&R) to the SRF. In the spirit of helping develop each R&R paper further along, the workshop was designed to create a face-to-face opportunity for all R&R authors to improve revision, instructed by the team of guest editors of the SRF, including Harry Barkema (London School of Economics), Xiao-Ping Chen (U. of Washington), Gerry George (Imperial College of London), Yadong Luo (U. of Miami & SYSBS) and Anne Tsui (Arizona State University). Two dozen contributing authors attended the workshop, from the United States, Germany, Finland, Austria, India, Japan, Singapore, and Mainland China and Taiwan, among others.

The workshop was divided into two parallel sessions – micro session and macro session. In each session, the editors offered thorough, insightful, and constructive comments or suggestions that are instrumental in guiding the authors to navigate their next round revision. The authors expressed gratitude to all the editors for helping them develop their revisions so far along and for benefiting tremendously from the editors’ insights, directions and suggestions. The editors and the authors also commended SYSBS for its excellent organizing and hosting of the workshop.
