As Prof. Wu detailed a vision of China’s future, he emphasized the significance of the 18th National Congress. Noting, particularly, the deteriorating conditions that have resulted from the extensive and rapid development, and from the rampant corruption that China has endured, Prof. Wu looked to comprehensive deepening reform as the key to resolving the problems that have become so prominent. He cited the countermeasures put forward at The Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee that were aimed at building an integrated, open, competitive, and orderly market system. As well, Prof. Wu discussed possible solutions to the systemic risks posed by economic social problems. Despite the concerns he addressed in his presentation, Prof. Wu closed with an optimistic vision for China’s success in maintaining sustainable macroeconomic growth in the upcoming year.

In the interaction session, Prof. Wu focused on three aspects of economic conditions in China: how privately held enterprises can avoid risk, how young entrepreneurs can seize and nurture opportunities, and how private enterprises in science and technology can make successful accommodations for the reforms ahead. He presented practical and valuable suggestions that were enthusiastically received.
