[SYSU NEWS] Dr. Lee Bird, Vice President for Student Affairs of Oklahoma State University, Visits SYSU
On May 16, Dr. Lee Bird, Vice President for Student Affairs of Oklahoma State University (OSU), visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Prof. Wei Minghai, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests in Zhongshan Building on South Campus, accompanied by Mr. Chen Changling, Deputy Director of Student Affairs Office, and Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange.

Prof. Wei Minghai extended a warm welcome to Dr. Lee Bird, and introduced SYSU’s recent development and future development goals. He expressed hope that the two universities would enhance student, faculty and staff exchanges, and more OSU students would participate in SYSU’s International Summer Program. Moreover, SYSU is seeking high-level research fellows, and we welcome OSU’s PhD students and post-doctoral researchers to apply for the positions.
Dr. Lee Bird said she was glad to visit SYSU again. She pointed out that the two universities have established close cooperative relations in student affairs, and she welcomed SYSU staff members to visit OSU for exchange and study. In addition, she introduced OSU’s annual International Symposium on Student Affairs, and shared the experience of OSU’s Scholar Development Office and Faculty Development Center.
Oklahoma State University (OSU) was founded in 1890. OSU’s School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration and SYSU’s Sun Yat-sen Business School started the joint undergraduate program in hospitality and tourism management in 2009. The two universities officially started the university-level student exchange program in 2015, with each sending 2 exchange students to the other every year. In addition, SYSU’s Student Affairs Office has conducted faculty and student exchange program with OSU.
