There is no noise, and in the university with mottled tree shadows, the solemn and quiet atmosphere makes people want to stop to write and read without distraction, that is Sun Yat-sen Business School.
At the Shansi Hall of Sun Yat-sen Business School, we meet Yang Yuxuan, the student from 2016 MBA Class 5. From the civil servant of tax bureau to the senior tax consultant of internet company and then to the lawyer, he has successfully completed multiple changes in career. This post-90s boy always speaks with a shy smile and lets us enter his colorful inner world.
“Everyone is pursuing more possibilities, so don’t limit your life”
In 2013, Yang Yuxuan graduated from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies as a tax major student, and then he was admitted to the district tax bureau and became a civil servant in the system. Only two years later, he was admitted to the provincial tax bureau through open selection. Under the background of good career and bright future, Yang Yuxuan started the idea of going to graduate school. Although MPA (Master of Public Administration) were more closely related to civil servant, Yang Yuxuan finally chose MBA and hoped that MBA cultivating all-around students could bring him something different.
When choosing school, the one hundred years of qualifications, good reputation and excellent teachers of Sun Yat-sen Business School deeply attracted him. “When I enter the school, I find that there are many opportunities for international exchange, and alumni resources are quite abundant. This platform for learning and communication really opens the door to the new world for me.”

In the environment of the civil servants from the same department and with similar professional backgrounds, life is comfortable and harmonious, but the information received is relatively simple, and Yang Yuxuan’s development is relatively narrow. In private, Yang Yuxuan is called “super scholar” by his classmates. In 2017, he went to the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town, South Africa for overseas study, and in 2018, he went to the Coller School of Management, Tel Aviv University, Israel through interview selection; for the financial accounting class which makes students feel a headache, Yang Yuxuan always sits in the first row and ranks first in performance; he only takes over three months to pass the difficult national judicial examination; he has certain language talent, besides English, he can make simple daily communication in German. For the past achievements and everyone’s praise, Yang Yuxuan said that he wasn’t “super scholar”, just “for passionate devotion”.

In Yang Yuxuan’s MBA class, students have the same goal and close ideological level, the learning atmosphere is strong, and the feelings between classmates are very harmonious. When studying in the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town, South Africa, 8 of Yang Yuxuan’s classmates were selected, and in their spare time, they rented a car to have a self-driving tour to feel the different styles of the world, which left a lot of good memories. Like many MBA classes, his class also has a universal group. When problems come across, people think together and solve them together, and even develop partnership to jointly set up company. Some students have cooperated to establish management consulting company, and some have become suppliers to each other. Yang Yuxuan believes that the biggest reason for the cooperation is that the study in Sun Yat-sen Business School has narrowed the distance between these students and improved the trust between them, and he also has grown up with the help of the study of MBA in Sun Yat-sen Business School and his classmates.
“Utilitarianism is not necessarily a bad thing. If we work together to integrate resources, create benefits for both sides, three parties and even many parties, and contribute to the society, that is absolutely a good thing. However, studying MBA doesn’t mean that you can directly trade and exchange with your classmates, it is more about learning and growing up from the interaction between people.” In the process of getting along with classmates, the exchange of various experiences has indirectly given him the energy to grow up. “In our class, there is a student engaged in vehicle sales industry. In the exchange, he has ever shared the content that how Toyota chooses suppliers, controls equity and preserves competitiveness. This may have nothing to do with my existing industry, but sharing like this will be very beneficial to the comprehensive development in the future.”
Looking back, Sun Yat-sen Business School has brought me different surprises
Yang Yuxuan himself has the tax-related professional background, and he has studied corporate finance, management consulting, management economics and other courses. After leaving the system, he has ever joined the famous internet company “YY Inc” as a senior tax consultant. Now, he is continuing his studies and starting again, and he is working in a law firm in Guangdong and striving to become an excellent lawyer with management thinking.
“The lawyer with the professional background of tax will have great advantages in undertaking economic crime cases, and my character makes me very suitable for professional knowledge service. In law firm, my professional knowledge can be applied to all subjects in the society, which may magnify my value.” For him, the greatest ideal is to achieve self growth and contribute more to the society through the study of MBA.
“Studying MBA has a great impact on me. No matter being a tax planner or a lawyer, I need to understand customers and understand the whole business logic, so that I can understand customers’ business demands. The previous study of tax is relatively simple, but the study of MBA in Sun Yat-sen Business School has cultivated my business thinking, which is a top-level design and has a clear impact on my business development. At the same time, the rapid growth and transformation of the excellent MBA classmates in Business School have also constantly encouraged me to develop rapidly. Need a full study and a romantic life
Different experiences give people different experience. “Read thousands of books and travel thousands of miles, no matter the body or the soul, there should always be one on the road.” Yang Yuxuan’s footprints have been left all over the world, including the United States, Israel, Jordan, Kampuchea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, and Russia.... He is so fascinated by the culture of different countries and regions that he studies German only to get a deeper understanding of Germanic people.
“The future life is so wonderful, so we have to work harder now, and one day our life will be easy.” Yang Yuxuan said with a smile, “The study of MBA is both tired and happy, and when you understand the importance of study, other things will give in to it.”
Yang Yuxuan is unrestrained in his own spiritual world, and runs freely on the road of MBA of Sun Yat-sen Business School. He never regrets the decisions made at the beginning, he refuses to be labeled, dares to think and dares to do, and shapes his own life all the way.
