The 8th Li Xuerou Fund Scholarship Award Ceremony of Business School, Sun Yat-sen University Was Successfully Held

On the morning of March 18th, the 8th Li Xuerou Fund Scholarship Award Ceremony of Business School, Sun Yat-sen University was held in B101, administration building, east campus. Yan Guangmei - vice president of our university, responsible persons of relevant departments and functional departments, Professor Li Xuerou, as well as the alumni judges from several departments and the members of Li Xuerou Fund Scholarship Council attended the award ceremony. The relevant staffs of our school, the previous award-winning students, the current award-winning students and students of business school attended the ceremony.
At the award ceremony, Yan Guangmei - vice president expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the alumni and social elites who cared and supported the development of Li Xuerou Fund and the alumni judges who enthusiastically participated in the scholarship assessment, and highly affirmed the achievements of the fund in the past eight years. He pointed out that the case of the previous winners feeding back the Alma mater after graduation is the result of the school's ideological and political education work and talents training, and is a vivid interpretation of the objectives of school's talents training "To shape the business talents who have both ability and moral integrity, able to cultivate charisma and eager to serve their country.". And he proposed to enhance the propaganda of the feeding back cases, to carry forward the spirit of respecting teachers, loving the school, dedication and inheritance. Finally, he suggested that students continue to be strict with themselves in accordance with the objectives of school's talent training, and called on students to constantly improve themselves, pursue excellence and dedication!
Alumni Yue Yong – representative of the Li Xuerou Fund Council shared his understanding of the traditional spirit of serving the country, acting prudently and morality first, and expressed sincere gratitude and deep respect to the people from all walks of life who cared and supported the fund work. He called on the students of Sun Yat-sen University to carry on Mr. Sun Yat-sen's spirit of "taking the country as their own mission" to serve the country, be accountable and down to earth, regardless of success or failure, they must always stick to the initial intention of "morality first" at all stages of life and create value for the country and society!
Su Youzhen of the School of Communication and Design and Xu Yun of our school gave a speech respectively as the award-winning students. They shared their own growth process and said that they would follow the examples of senior alumni, continue to work hard, stick to the goal of "having both ability and moral integrity, being able to cultivate charisma and eager to serve their country", enhance professional skills, aspire to become an elite and talent with international vision, and contribute their youth to the national rejuvenation and development!
It is reported that the Li Xuerou Fund of the Business School of Sun Yat-sen University was donated and founded by the alumni of the Business School in September 2009. In order to thank the teacher for his contributions to the school's development for years and feed back the cultivation and care of their Alma mater, the alumni named the fund after the name of their teacher - professor Li Xuerou. The purpose of the fund is also to strengthen the connection between alumni and the school, reward students, support talents and gather strength. As of March 2017, the principal amount of the Li Xuerou fund has exceeded 4.3 million yuan. Since March last year, 12 previous award-winning students who have graduated, donated more than 60,000 yuan to the Li Xuerou Fund. They used their first month's salary or entrepreneurial income to give back to the fund and their Alma mater, which has generated a strong response among the award-winning students.
The Li Xuerou fund scholarship adheres to the principle of "excellent in character and learning, and morality first" for selection, and rewards 18 full-time undergraduates (9 each from the Business School and other school and departments) each year, and each student with RMB 12,000 yuan. The selection work of the 8th Li Xuerou Fund Scholarship of Business School, Sun Yat-sen University started in November 2016 and completed in January 2017. A total of 87 alumni judges from 30 schools and departments and 4 internal expert judges participated in the selection of this year's scholarship. As of the 8th session, the number of award-winning students has reached 134, covering a total of 30 schools and departments of arts, sciences, medicine and engineering. The popularity and influence of scholarship have been constantly improving.
