On the afternoon of March 19th, 2016 Alumni Forum of our school was successfully held in the Administrative Building of Guangzhou Campus - East Campus. 28 people in total attended the forum, including faculty Li Hanrong - director of Education Development and Alumni Affairs Office, secretary general of Alumni Association, secretary general of Advisory Board of Sun Yat-sen University, faculty Kong Xiaohui - deputy director of Education Development and Alumni Affairs Office, deputy secretary general of Alumni Association of Sun Yat-sen University, professor Wang Fan - dean of Business School, Qi Xiaoping - secretary of the CPC Party Committee, Dai Honghui - deputy secretary of the CPC Party Committee, faculty Yu Hua - former secretary of the CPC Party Committee, faculty Zhang Yifang - deputy director of Career Development and Alumni Work Office of Business School, representatives of local alumni associations and alumni organizations. The forum was presided by Secretary Qi Xiaoping.

Li Hanrong - secretary general mentioned in her speech that this is the first time for Sun Yat-sen University to hold a forum on alumni work at the school and department level. At the new starting point of the historical development stage, president Luo Jun emphasized that alumni work is an important part of talent cultivation. We are very happy to see that Business School attaches great importance to alumni work, actively convenes alumni to return to school, listens to the voice of alumni, and jointly makes suggestions on the development of alumni work. Then, dean Wang Fan gave a speech on the theme of alumni work of Business School. He said Business School is a bridge between "academic circles" and "business circles", a lifelong education center for cultivating leaders, managers, policy makers and entrepreneurs, and a driving force for social development. Alumni are particularly important to the development of Business School and are the best brands for Business School in society. Next, the school will focus on the development of local alumni associations, and plans to carry out a theme activity every year. By searching and linking alumni and other projects, the alumni work will be integrated with the school brand, market, foundation, foreign relations and teaching, etc., so as to better build the brand of Whampoa Military Academy in business.

Next, representatives of the six major alumni associations of Business School in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing, Foshan, Yunnan and Chaoshan, MBA Council, EDP Alumni Council, Li Xuerou Foundation Council, Alumni Foundation Council, MBA WeCircle, six major alumni organizations (foundation) representatives of EMBA Tennis Association and alumni representatives of Hong Kong region introduced the alumni work in the region (organization). Everyone fully felt that the various alumni organizations of the school in various regions flourished, held alumni activities of various forms, high quality and colorful, and achieved fruitful results, which played a positive role in gathering alumni, joint development and making efforts in building the school together. Faculty Zhang Yifang - Alumni Office of the school reported the situation of the funds of Business School, including the use of the fund, and the statistics of donations received and awarded. The fund projects of the school are being developed steadily in the direction of orderly management and strong guarantee.

In the following interactive discussion, the guests and alumni exchanged ideas and talked freely. Alumni said they are very delighted and supportive for the school to organize such alumni work forum. The alumni spoke freely, and they said that the alumni work and the development of the school are inseparable, and should consider strategically and systematically how to promote each other and form a virtuous circle. Under the new situation and environment, alumni work should adopt different strategies according to the situation, follow the trend, and pay more attention to how to better position the brand of school and alumni in the information society. Business School, Sun Yat-sen University should focus on Guangdong, give full play to its own advantages, and strengthen the reform of supply side structure. At present, many alumni activities and projects of the school are carried out well, and in the hope to be further inherited and developed. At the same time, it is suggested that the school carry out activities with different themes and more diverse, so as to connect the alumni from different regions and different project backgrounds to have more interactions and exchanges, etc.

In the conclusion stage, dean Wang Fan said that the school will continue to promote the alumni activities led by alumni or the school in accordance with the top-down logic and the needs of alumni. We also hope that everyone will actively put forward opinions and suggestions on the alumni activities, foundation and information platform, etc. Secretary Yu Hua thought that the forum is a beneficial attempt for the alumni to make joint efforts in building the school. He hoped to normalize and institutionalize such activities, and also put forward many valuable opinions on the future alumni work of the school. Secretary general Li Hanrong responded to the relevant regulations on the management and operation of the foundation, and looked forward to the cooperation between all walks of life and the university to contribute to the future development of the university. In the end, secretary Qi Xiaoping expressed his gratitude to the alumni and association for their support to this forum. The school will sort out and implement the opinions and suggestions everyone put forward. The good tradition will continue to be passed on and further innovated, and push the alumni work of the school to a new height.
